Finally the Truth

Nothing can turn a civil conversation into a screaming match faster than politics, and I know I’m not alone in feeling incredibly frustrated by the current state of the American experiment. Tuning in each evening to hear Judy Woodruff and Yamiche Alcindor reveal the day’s fresh horrors often makes my blood boil. But sometimes there’s a glimmer of good news on this roller coaster of trauma, and a recent item in the newspaper gave me some hope that sanity endures in some corners of our society: PhD Ape has been subpoenaed to testify before Congress.
If anyone can tell us the truth about ourselves, it’s PhD Ape. Some cursory research didn’t reveal what discipline PhD Ape obtained his PhD in, or what his doctoral research work involved, but based on the many books in his bookshelves (seen behind him in his official portrait) I’m certain it’s something weighty and esoteric. If nothing else, PhD Ape will undoubtedly bring a sense of calm and learned reason to the current atmosphere of impending doom. Kudos to the newspaper for covering this underreported story; these days too many reassuring and positive news items seem to fall through the cracks or get overlooked in the Dumpster fire of our polity.
